Strap on your skates, roll up your air mattress and pack your duct tape, it’s the first ever Wheelstock! Hosted by Chesapeake Roller Derby and M.A.D.E, it’s your opportunity to skate and play overnight with skaters from all over the Mid-Atlantic. With beginner and advanced workshops, ref clinics, rookie and advanced tourneys and more, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to skate on that world-famous grooved concrete. Notes:
- We will play the M.A.D.E rule set.
- We’ll play co-ed derby (there may be opportunities for some all-girl or all-boy play, but expect to mix it up co-ed style! Don’t worry, if you haven’t played co-ed before, we promise you’ll love it.)
- Individual skaters can come or your whole team!
- All skaters welcome, beginner thru advanced.
- Skaters do not have to be M.A.D.E Certified, however, please include that information below if you have it!
- Expect scrimmages, workshops and fun!
- You must be 18+ to participate!
What we need from you:
- Each skater must fill in registration form (http://bit.ly/Wheelstock2012) Team leads – if you are registering other skaters, please make sure to include email information for each skater, or you must be responsible for sharing emailed information with them.
- Every skater must provide medical and insurance information (in registration form) and be prepared to sign a waiver to skate in our facility!
- Have a team coming? We’re looking to run two tournaments! “Rookie” Tournament (with M.A.D.E. Level 3 and 2 players) AND a Advanced (with M.A.D.E. Level 1 and 2 players). Team captains can email pirate.derby@gmail.com or call 202-390-8897 (Maj. Anxiety) with your team info (# of skaters and level). Not sure of your team’s level? Call or email!

Plunder take the Hos
It was an amazing game, with each team trading the lead again and again and again. With one Ho in the penalty box, the bout slipped into “sudden death” and the Rolling Plunder took the game.

THE Dalai Trauma was assaulted this morning on 98 Rock, live on the radio! Happily he was a willing participant. Did you miss it? Check out the full interview with Dalai, Major Anxiety and Blood Beth and Beyond as they mix it up with Mickey, Amelia and Josh on the 98 Rock Morning Show. The Major made an unintended dirty joke; the pirates gave the morning crew their very own derby names and Scott the Producer poked Dalai in the junk. It was pants-dropping fun! Listen here.

Chesapeake Roller Derby on 98ROCK
Yarr, do ye like the rock music? We do! That’s why we’re so excited to be on 98 Rock’s morning show on Friday, April 6 at 7:40am (the morning before our April 7 game!). Listen in to hear Major Anxiety, THE Dalai Trauma and Blood Beth and Beyond mix it up with Mickey, Amelia, Spiegel and Scott the Producer. What will happen? Will Major start giggling nervously and forget to CRD’s website url? Will her purple tutu fit in the studio? Will Blood Beth be hopped up on coffee and booty block Mickey? Who: Inviting men of all ages to put on a pair of high heels and take a stand to end violence against women (Women are also encouraged to participate).
Where:
Registration- 10am Dutterer Park
Walk Begins- 11am
Walk Route– Leave Dutterer Park and head down Pennsylvania Ave. and Main St. ending at Westminster City Park (Center St. Entrance). At the conclusion of the walk there will be music, food, and a short program.
Registration:
$25- provide your own shoes for the walk
This year every walker will receive a free 2012 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes t-shirt!!!

CRD SKATES WITH THE CUB SCOUTS
Members from Chesapeake Roller Derby converged on Putty Hill’s Skateland to teach a couple of packs of cub scouts about roller derby and general skating safety. Thanks to everyone who came out.
